I'll tell you what, having a toddler and a newborn definitely makes cleaning the house a challenge! When the girl is down for a nap I figure I should be able to get a whole bunch of housecleaning done. instead, I have a little guy who needs mommy to snuggle him and feed him. And I love it! Messy house be darned...I am thoroughly enjoying loving up my little man. It's a precious time, and I know that I need to just cherish it. Soak up all the little baby coos. Marvel at the tiny baby feet and baby hands. Who knows...this may be our last baby, and if so, I don't want to waste away precious time with my family making sure my dusting is done. Bah. ;)
That said, I should probably try to get the crazy dog fur vacuumed up (again), and get all the shredding done that I've been intending to do for ages. Maybe I'll even wash the floor one of these days.
This weekend we'll be spending some time with friends. Some of it will be sad - we're attending the funeral for Chris tomorrow. Some of it will be happy - our friends are bringing us a meal tomorrow night and coming to meet Ethan for the first time. Scott will probably have a to work again a bit this weekend - he's getting tired, so I hope this year end stuff is finished soon so he can take a much deserved break. My hubby works hard...and I love him for it. It'd be so nice to win the lottery and have him home with us all week. In order to win the lottery though, I need to actually purchase a ticket. Odds are at least 0.00000001% better that way.

He's here!
Annika is doing really well with Ethan. We're working on being very gentle with him...it's slowly getting better. She is definitely going through a period of adjustment though. We're trying to shower her with lots of love and kisses so that she doesn't feel left out at all. Wer just love our little princess...she's such a precious girl.
Ethan seems to be a healthy little boy...we've got a couple concerns that we're dealing with related to his output, but he's eating well and now has a couple periods of alert time where he opens his little eyes for us, which I love.
Unfortunately Scott went straight back to work (it's a busy time for him with year end obligations) and he even has to work this weekend...boo. I was hoping we'd have the weekend together, but no dice. Maybe next weekend?! It's definitely been an adjustment for me with two kids! I feel badly that I haven't had the energy to play much with annika during our first few days at home. But i'm thinking i'll be back on my feet in a week, and hopefully then we'll sort out a good playtime routine as well.
We had some sad news today. Our good family friends experienced a great loss today. Cancer struck again and took the life of Chris who is loved by so many. I hate cancer. It is a horrible, destructive disease that hurts too many families. So this weekend we will be keeping our friends close in thought and prayer and pray that God comforts them and gives them peace.

Weekend Loves
We have a little tradition that we have established each weekend in our home over the last few months. Saturday morning, our little pumpkin comes and snuggles in with us in bed for a few minutes before Daddy gets up and makes us all pancakes. His pancake breakfasts are yummy. Sometimes he makes special banana pancakes, sometimes with chocolate chips, sometimes he even shapes special Mickey Mouse pancakes for Annika, which she loves. I love little things like this that make weekends special. I love my little family.
Today one member of our family ran away for a short time, which had me worried. (It was the four-legged member and as some of you may know, she's got a history of escapism and long jaunts out on the town). I went out in the van looking for her but didn't find her, and then Scott went out walking to find her, and he came home just at the same time as our little brat decided to come home and get in from the snowy night! We're just glad she's home safe and sound.
After Annika is sleeping soundly this evening, Scott and I are going to tackle re-organizing our basement. We recently made a whole bunch of purchases for our home, and some of them are for the bsmt. We had new pot lights installed throughout the finished area, got a new tv, Scott got some speakers, and we've moved all my crafting stuff down. Today we spent some time in Ikea and I think we're getting close to what I would like as a finished craft area. I think I may even take some pictures of the before craft area and then the after and share with you! Usually going to places like Ikea and Costco on the weekend drives me batty, but today we managed to make it through unscathed. Annika was fantastic, and we just picked up a few things (like a new duvet cover/sheets for our new king bed that we have to order tonight!)
Still on baby watch. I am guessing that the baby will come on the 21st (4 days overdue like Annika), but who knows! One thing is for certain, the baby's stay in hotel Mama will come to an end by Jan 26 (induce day if we go 10 days over).
Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend. I have to go tuck in my sweet pea now!

Dancing Baby
Boy, this little baby is always moving and dancing around! I get real kick out of watching my belly twitch and move like crazy while the baby inside seemingly has a little dance party! This little one is a lot more active in Hotel Mama than Annika was, that's for sure.
I had a dr appt today to see how things are progressing, and i'm pretty sure we still have a week or so before we meet this new little one.
Tonight I was going through some pictures, trying to organize them so that I can do some scrapbooking, and it was so nice to look at all of Annika's baby photos again. Hard to believe how fast the first couple years flew by with her.
Today we made some chocolate chip cookies together and played princess barbies. She loves playing dolls and pretending she's a princess. She also likes to pretend that she is Wendy, I'm Tinkerbell, and daddy is Peter Pan! Quite the imagination....it's fun!

Happy Days
I've so enjoyed spending time with my little love bug at home. I was sad to take her out of her dayhome because she loved the provider and all her little friends. But it's turning out just fine. She's really becoming Mommy's little helper and I'm so happy I've had some time with just us before a new little person arrives. Annika is pretty excited to be a big sister and I think she's going to do great. Of course there will be a period of adjustment, but it will all go well, of that I'm sure.
Yesterday we ran around doing a bunch of errands and today I have to continue on that same vein and try to get everything done before I am out of commission for a while. This evening I think we're going to order our new King size mattress - yay!! We're super excited to have a king mattress..it'll be so nice and spacious! Neither of us has ever really had a proper bedroom set before, so having a brand new set is really exciting. We got Annika her big girl set and moved her into her new bedroom the first couple days of January and she's adjusted beautifully. She sleeps well every night, and we're happy about that.
While at home I've been able to put a bit more time into actually cooking suppers now that I'm home in the afternoon. Yesterday we had this for supper:
Oh boy, it was yummy! We thoroughly enjoyed it! I also made a turkey soup that is frozen and ready for us to use when I'm not up to cooking some evening in the future. And I made a big crock pot full of bolognese sauce (also from Skinnytaste recipes) that is frozen and ready for us to dig out one night.

Happy New Year!
Perhaps a belated post, but it is my first of this new year. 2012 - wow! I think it's going to be a good year.
Today has been a good day so far. Went out for a delicious breakfast at Cora's with my dad and Helen...they treated us, and it was a nice visit with yummy food (and lots of it!) Then my poor hubs had to go in to work (yucky year end) and I came home with our little turkey.
Guess who had her first hair cut ever yesterday?! That's right...our little miss had a few wisps of hair trimmed and evened out. And she now proudly sports bangs! She was so good...picked her chair and climbed in and just waited. I was very proud of her for sitting still and not fussing at all.
I finally got Christmas packed away for another year, fewf. Now i'm going to do some house cleaning and get some supper planned. That'll be it for me today! This mama gets tired quickly these days. Thursday was my last day at work...yay!!! What a relief to be all done. Now we just wait for this little baby to arrive!
