Prairie Gardens Visit

Today we visited Prairie Gardens, around 30 mins north of Edmonton. It was a great day with our friends...boy did the girls have fun today! We went early and I was glad because it was starting to really heat up when we left and I'm still trying to keep Ethan out of too much direct sunlight, so the timing was perfect. We also happened to visit just when a local tv station was doing a spot on the Canada Day festivities that will be taking place this weekend, so we had a very brief cameo in a clip during this evening's news! ;) I'm talking so brief if you had blinked you would've missed it. But hey, that's ok!

Happy Canada Day weekend all - we're going to enjoy some time at a friend's lake lot this weekend. I'm hoping it's a good time!
What a cool looking little spot, n'est-ce pas?

Tea party with the Mad Hatter

Enjoying our day together. I love my babies.

Good friends. These lovely ladies are great to spend time with. Annika loves spending time with her best bud!

Do I have any ice cream on my face?!

Boy did they ever enjoy their treats!

The girls were quite taken with the local band on stage...ha! Did some dancing and everything!

We're the queens of the castle...

Showing off boo-boos on the train

Yee-haw!

My little pirate

She looks quite concerned (we read a lot of Peter Pan you know!!)

There's berry picking available at this farm too - I think I picked a pretty nice berry to bring home with me!
Have a great long weekend all!

This diet is making me crazy!

Crazy because I'm sitting here looking through pinterest at all the delicious foodie pins. Why? Why would I do that to myself!?! I guess if I can't eat a delicious piece of ice cream cake or a yummy square I may as well drool while looking at them! Pinterest is fun for that - are any of you hooked on Pinterest?

I'm going to do something even nuttier than looking online; I'm off to bake a banana bread. I've got 3 almost completely black bananas that are begging me to save them and turn them into something delish! So I am going to! I'm even throwing in chocolate chips! :)

And if you're wondering, I've started the 17 Day Diet again (I had started this before I found out I was pregnant with Ethan. I decided today that I will modify it slightly because I'm still breastfeeding Ethan and I don't want to screw up my supply or starve my body. I was waaaaaaay too low on caloric intake the past few days and so today I'm going to boost it up a bit just so I don't risk my baby's food supply! :) It's a good diet though - I like it. It's hard because it cuts out refined sugars/carbs/starchy things for the first 17 days...but I think if I can get through the first phase it will be ok!

Hope you're all having a great night. I'm off to drool bake some banana bread!

Missing from blogland

Summer time gets busy, don't you agree? We've been busy visiting friends, celebrating babies, enjoying summer weather, etc. So that just doesn't leave much time for bligging! Hope you have been enjoying your summer thus far!

Happy Father's Day!

To all the wonderful fathers out there...enjoy your weekend! We made crepes for daddy this morning and then had burgers for lunch with our friends when they came over to visit this afternoon. Scott is having a nap now (that's a good weekend for him!) I think we'll make a trip to home depot later and then relax for the rest of the day...yay!

Have a great weekend!

Fun with Flowers

Today we spent a couple hours enjoying some beautiful plants at the conservatory with some wonderful friends. I admit, I was a bit hesitant to go because it's not the most toddler-friendly place {particularly when your toddler loves to pick flowers - eek}. But we went and I'm glad we did. It was so nice to visit with some lovely ladies and their kiddos.

Warning - lots of pictures in this post!! :)

Have a great evening!

Mission Accomplished

Here's another card! I really wanted to make 3 cards for the fathers in my life (my dad, Scott's dad and Scott!). I'm really loving getting back into the stamping mode. It's nice to use all the stuff I buy! LOL! Since I'm making these cards I figured I may as well enter some card challenges while I'm at it. This challenge is with Try Stampin' on Tuesday and it's my first entry!

This was the sketch...and here's my card:

Last Father's Day card done!

Embossed the sentiment "dear Father" with pewter powder

Used some hardware accents...a bit manlier than sparkly bling!
I'm pleased with the final result. Now I'm off to have a cup of tea. Enjoy your evening all.

Saturday Sketch Challenge 259

Another rainy day! I'm not complaining...it's nice and peaceful and we need the moisture. Although we could do with a bit nicer weather to get out of the house and go for a nice walk! Had a pretty good day yesterday - got some free undies for Scott from Mark's Work Wearhouse. Anyone else get a free pair? He's always so excited to get free stuff! ;) I was so happy to get home from the mall though. I had a bad headache that hung around all day and it was nice to just sit. Now another week is here and lots of stuff to do. I have to get some organizing done!

Here is my entry for the challenge at Stamping 411, Saturday Sketch Challenge.
The sketch for us to use is this:

And here is my entry:

It's a pretty simple card that I'm going to give to Annika's teacher at her weekly class. I embossed the sentiment and used versamark for the flower stamp and then used my chalks on it. A little bit of pearl accents and we're done! I really like the Rich Razzleberry colour...so nice!

Hope you all have a great week!

Fun with Friends

Yesterday we spent a couple hours at the park with friends. It was a great afternoon and the rain held off and gave the girls their time to enjoy each other's company and the playground!

Goofy girls - I love this shot!

Nice little spray park we'll have to check out when summer heat hits!
It was a nice little afternoon. We had lunch at a picnic table and we moms visited while the girls ran around and tired each other out!

Today hubby and I hit up IKEA again and got a couple shelving units for the playroom. I'm going to tackle that seating/storage issue in the basement for the kids. I'm thinking that on my list of things to do is take pics of the entire house so I will have before pictures and then I'll do some tweaking in some rooms and overhauls in others and I'll be able to show the changes!

It's raining, it's pouring here. I'm off to watch a movie now and curl up and relax! Hope you are all enjoying the weekend!
