Mission Accomplished

Here's another card! I really wanted to make 3 cards for the fathers in my life (my dad, Scott's dad and Scott!). I'm really loving getting back into the stamping mode. It's nice to use all the stuff I buy! LOL! Since I'm making these cards I figured I may as well enter some card challenges while I'm at it. This challenge is with Try Stampin' on Tuesday and it's my first entry!

This was the sketch...and here's my card:

Last Father's Day card done!

Embossed the sentiment "dear Father" with pewter powder

Used some hardware accents...a bit manlier than sparkly bling!
I'm pleased with the final result. Now I'm off to have a cup of tea. Enjoy your evening all.

Saturday Sketch Challenge 259

Another rainy day! I'm not complaining...it's nice and peaceful and we need the moisture. Although we could do with a bit nicer weather to get out of the house and go for a nice walk! Had a pretty good day yesterday - got some free undies for Scott from Mark's Work Wearhouse. Anyone else get a free pair? He's always so excited to get free stuff! ;) I was so happy to get home from the mall though. I had a bad headache that hung around all day and it was nice to just sit. Now another week is here and lots of stuff to do. I have to get some organizing done!

Here is my entry for the challenge at Stamping 411, Saturday Sketch Challenge.
The sketch for us to use is this:

And here is my entry:

It's a pretty simple card that I'm going to give to Annika's teacher at her weekly class. I embossed the sentiment and used versamark for the flower stamp and then used my chalks on it. A little bit of pearl accents and we're done! I really like the Rich Razzleberry colour...so nice!

Hope you all have a great week!

Mojo Monday - Card Challenge

I know it's Wednesday, but I'm entering a card challenge that posts on Mondays, so there you have it. The challenge for the week is to make a card just like the sketch below, using either a square or round card. I found this challenge at MojoMonday blog - if you enjoy making cards you should check it out for fun!

My entry is a manly card (as manly as I could make it) and I went with the square card. I thought I'd take the opportunity to make a father's day card, since it is quickly approaching! I used a western themed dsp from Stampin' Up, as well as some earth elements cardstock (can't remember the colours off the top of my head). I think one was rust something or other...ha! I really liked this sketch! I'm going to be joining next week's challenge as well, i hope!

Here's my card:
One of the fathers in my life will receive this guy!

Hope you're all having a great week. I've got some cute videos I'd like to share of the kidlets, but I'm not sure if they're uploading properly. I'll try tomorrow if I get a chance!

Simple Birthday Card

Here's a quick shot of a birthday card I did last night. I love crafting. I really need to take pictures on my regular camera and not my phone so that the colours come out better. You can't really tell, but this is yellow with a bit of coordinating dsp and ribbon. I used a doily sizzlit and my embosslit, which I am loving!!

Mother's Day card #1

I sat down and did some card making last night...nothing too fancy (i like simple, plus i'm not creative enough to come up with really complex cards)! I liked the way it turned out though...this was using basic gray card stock and rich razzleberry...love the colours! I used my new lable embosslits (template for punching out the frame design). What do you think? I have a couple more to show once I've completed them. Pictures aren't great, but i'm using my camera phone which makes it so simple!

So, the picture of my hand is the result of my making purple goop yesterday for Annika to play with...I was right, she wanted purple! :)

I got Scott to take the afternoon off today and we went and watched a movie while my dad watched annika for us! We saw The Avengers...it was awesome!! I love superhero movies, so this was something I really enjoyed. Scott did too!

Hope you all have a great Friday tomorrow!

Papercrafting day

For many years now, I have been joining a lovely group of ladies in Stonyplain for a papercrafting day (or couple of days). I went for a half day today and did some card making. Normally I do scrapbooking, but due to the attendance of a certain hungry baby, I didn't want to cart along all my scrapping supplies out there. Scrapping takes a lot longer for me. I have to sort through pictures and figure out which one goes best where...then there's the paper choices and the accessories and the journalling. No, this is a hobby best kept at home where I can go and play during nap times or after bed. Soon I will have to take pictures of the layouts I've been able to do in the evenings. I haven't done many but something is better than nothing, right? I digress.
So anyway, instead of scrapbooking stuff I took along the card stock colours I was working with (in-colours...oooh!) and a couple stamps I decided I wanted to use. I had an idea of what kind of card I'd make (simple simple simple - Sandy, I hope you like these) and managed to get 3 cards made today! Not bad! So...here they are!

Hope you're all having a good weekend!

Earth Day

Well it's Earth Day today...and it also happens to be the day that Avatar comes out on DVD! Yay! Scott and I saw that in the Imax theatre and we absolutely loved it! I think we'll be purchasing it for sure. I've been thinking about what I can do today in honour of Earth day...and I think I've come up with something. I have a pile of laundry that needs to be washed and I believe I'll leave it until tomorrow and conserve water today. (Ok, maybe not actually a worthy idea, but it is a good reason to leave laundry for another day!) :)

We're going to meet a dayhome operator tonight to see what we think. Hope it goes well...I really don't like to think about going back to work. Ah well. I'll just have to put in my time and get my hours back up there!

Here are the two cards I've made so far. Hope you likey.

More Pretties

Here are a couple other cards I made using the Pretties kit.

This one I used a hatpin for the first time and I think it turned out ok! I like a really simple card, but I think I'm going to have to start adding some "oomph" to my cards, because they just seem too plain sometimes. Something to work on, I guess.

I'm going to try to get a couple more cards done and maybe submit a couple in a card challenge - it's been a while since I've done that.

Time is March-ing On...

Wow - it's the 31st already! Can't believe how quickly these days are flying by. Today "Grandpa" comes home from Mexico - I sure hope he had a great time and that he comes home full of enthusiasm and great memories of a nice vacation. I think Annika and I will drive to the airport to surprise him with a pick-up (he is supposed to get a ride home from the family he went to Mexico with).

I've been working on some cards using my Pretties Kit. I've never really used it before...and I am loving how much fun it is to colour the flowers and dress up the cards with pretties!

Here is one of the cards I've finished. Not the best picture...I need to find a good card picture taking spot! I'm definitely enjoying this kit.

I'm absolutely itching to start a quilting project (just a little wall hanging) and to do some sewing for Annika. Which means I really have to apply myself and get my sewing machine set up. In order to that I need to find another work surface to put my sewing gear. And where will I put my scrapbooking area?? Le sigh. I dunno...I'll have to come up with something! Let's see if I can get stuff going by the end of next week - that's my goal.

Another Card

Here's a card I made for my friend's shower today! Similar to the other one I made...just with a bit of a brighter background. I made an oops with the glitter, but ah well...still looks alright! :)

So today I'm off to get ready for the "Big Girl" Shower we're having for Jenna & Samantha. Should be a great afternoon! Hope everyone is having a good Saturday.
