June!!

June is here...and it's a beautiful day. Sun is shining (finally) and lots of the hectic craziness that took up time in May is over. Now I feel like I can sit back a bit and enjoy my last couple months of being a stay-at-home-mama. There is definitely some work around the house to throw into the mix (I won't just be sitting around lazing on the couch, unfortunately!), but I'm just happy that some of the big events (like the garage sale and relay) are complete.

The Relay weekend went really well. We raised a great amount for the Canadian Cancer Society ($6,715) and had a good time despite yucky weather. Sheri and Vicki were total troopers and were out there walking pretty much non-stop! They each did 75 laps, which is the equivalent of 30 km...wow! Those two are amazing! My dad and aunt also did 65 and 60 laps, respectively, which is an impressive feat. I only did 23! LOL! I had Annika with me until 11:30 and she took up quite a bit of time...and then after she and Scott went home I was able to get my laps in, although I felt bone tired after doing just 18 laps. I think it's a combination of being out of shape as well as having had a super long day getting things ready while taking care of my babe. In any case, it was great to see people out there marching around in the snow. At one point during my walk, I lifted my face up and tried catching snowflakes on my tongue...it felt peaceful and kind of neat to be out there with beautiful fat flakes drifting around.

I was asked to be part of the planning committee for next year's Relay for Life, and I'm actually pretty excited about that. I love being part of this event and I think it'll be neat to be more involved in the early planning stages for the entire event. Should be a good fundraising year for Team Dawn next year, considering that Sheri's employer matched her fundraising efforts (a whopping $2K!!)...and that will go towards our next year's goal. So we've certainly got a chunk out of the way before we even start working! Yay Sheri!!

Well, now I have a lot of stuff to do...laundry piles to sort through, bathrooms to clean, vacuuming to do. I better go and get started, before the dust bunnies join ranks and take over my home! ;)

Have a great week all...enjoy June!
